Lawton Truck & Audio and MAP pricing. What is it?
MAP stands for "Manufacturer's Advertised Price". In order to be an authorized dealer, we must honor the MAP policy
of the companies whose products we sell. Many companies have a MAP policy, some do not. We cannot advertise a price for a product that is below the manufacturer's MAP.
If we do, we can loose our "Authorized Dealer" status and be cut off from their products. This is the main reason you will not see very many prices listed here on our website.
To be as honest as I can, we generally mark items up between 10% and 20% of our cost. We do not mark up shipping costs, you pay what we pay for shipping.
Sometimes this is below MAP, sometimes it is right in line with MAP. We do not intentionally sell below MAP. With a list of vendors as long as the one we have, it is nearly impossible to keep up with
everyone's MAP Policy. (One company has a 300 page excel spreadsheet with MAP prices). The simple way to avoid problems with MAP policies is to not advertise a price. This can be a headache for our customers, but give us a
call if you need pricing info. I promise we will not pressure you into anything you do not want or need. I know that may be a less than effective sales stradegy, but we value
honor and honesty above all else. Thanks for taking the time to look this over and your understanding.
